Biosphere is the project of Geir Jenssen, who started trio Bel Canto with Anneli Marian Decker and Nils Johansen in 1986. Jenssen played with Bel Canto on two albums, before continuing solo in 1989 under the name of Bleep. Only in 1991 his first piece of work was released as 'Microgravity' under the name of Biosphere. The sequel is entitled 'Patashnik', containing 'Novelty Waves' which became an underground hit for Biosphere in 1994. Gradually the beats disappear. On 'The Fires Of Ork' (with Pete Namlook), 'Substrata' and most of all on 'Cirque', Biosphere comes with pretty dark ambient. This becomes even more obvious on 'Shenzhou', released in 2002.
