Recycled * Michel Banabila, who resides in Rotterdam, has been in music for a long time: his first LP 'Marilli' was released way back in 1983. Later on he experimented with Richard Zeilstra in Genetic Factor and he took part in the collective CHI, a group for audio-visual performances. Banabila also did several collaborations with musicians like multi-instrumentalist Yasar Saka ('A Living Thing'), Holger Czukay (on his Iinternet collabs CD 'Linear City'), and with vocalists Tanar Catalpinar (Byzantium) and Ali Bahia El Idrissi ('Arhil'). Under the project name 'VoizNoiz', Banabila created some wonderful cinematic soundscapes, based around sampled voices. On his CD 'Spherics' we get an idea of what spheric ambient is all about. Recently he made some great recordings with Holland's number one jazz trumpet player Eric Vloeimans. In the near future these recordings will be released as part III of the VoizNoiz series, subtitled: 'Urban Jazz Scapes'. 'Voiz Recycled' is based on remixes and collages of his previous released material. Essential: 'Voiznoiz I', 'Voiznoiz II', 'Spherics' |
