Fyah, Lutan - Phantom War
Releasedatum: 24 mei 2006
'Phantom War' brings together the many different strands that have run through Lutan Fyah's works to date and emphasises the timeless relevance of his music and, perhaps even more importantly, its message. Acutely aware that there are no easy answers Lutan instead asks all the right questions: "How can a man speak the right and do the opposite?" in 'Bits & Pieces' and reaffirms the constant and continuing relevance of his faith in Rastafari in 'Rasta Still Deh Bout' (featuring Josie Mel). Through songs such as 'This Fire' the listener is never in any doubt as to where Lutan Fyah's allegiances lie: "the system is a fraud" and from the introduction of 'Plant A Seed (I&I)' on to the final reprise on the same theme Lutan's vision never wavers: "You ain't got nothing if you ain't got love ..." The rhythms match the mood throughout across the steppers, one drop and acoustic outings and have been provided by a varied and sterling cast of the current cutting edge Kingston production teams. It is his most accomplished set to date.
