Based on the novel by John Steinbeck, this vintage Alfred Hitchcock classic was nominated for three Academy Awards® including Best Cinematography, Best Director, and Best Writing of Original Script. Lifeboat follows a group of survivors who find themselves adrift after their ship is torpedoed by a German U-Boat. Through the devastation, several people gradually find their way to the lifeboat. First aboard is fashion journalist Constance Porter (Tallulah Bankhead) whose only real concern is the state of her tights and fur coat. Soon she is joined by seven more characters from all social backgrounds. However, the trouble really begins when the survivors pull the Captain of the German U-Boat aboard their already crowded lifeboat, and find out that his ship has also sunk. As the Captain is the only person capable of sailing the small vessel to safety, the group are forced to place their trust and their lives in his hands! As the group is slowly steered away from land and safety will they survive the trepid waters and each other!
