Sam Fuller's Shock Corridor concerns ambitious journalist Johnny Barrett, who is determined to win a Pulitzer Prize by solving a murder committed in a lunatic asylum. Although three inmates witnessed the crime, the police are unable to identify the murderer. Reluctantly aided by his girlfriend and an unethical psychiatrist, Barrett manages to have himself committed to the asylum, where he sets about tracking down and interviewing the witnesses. But he soon discovers the difficulties of maintaining one's sanity among the insane.
