Virgil Manoven is a recluse who lives in a desolate area surrounded by woods. Whilst searching for his lost cat Virgil witnesses the shocking strangulation of a young girl and reports the murder to the police. The police however are unable to find a body. As Virgil broods over what he has witnessed he experiences a nightmare in which the dead girl begs him to venture once again into the woods and solve her murder.
