Junior Kelly - Conscious Voice
Releasedatum: 11 juni 2002
December 2001 we all heard the news that Junior Kelly was involved in a terrible road accident. He was rushed to hospital where they diagnosed him as having several broken bones, ribs, his pelvis and to make matters even worse his lung was punctured. Names of people like Jacob Miller and Tiger sprung to mind and it seemed like Junior Kelly’s carreer was cut short. Luckilly he’s healed almost completeley now. He’s even starting his very first European tour around this time to promote this new release. ‘Conscious voice’ is a collection of tracks he recorded before his accident. ‘Them And Those’ and ‘Word Power’ were both produced by Winston Riley and were quite popular on 45. UK’s Ruff Cutt produced ‘Come One Day’ and ‘Jah Live On’, two songs that both entered the British reggae charts. ‘Black African Star’, ‘Can’t Stop These Tears’ and ‘My Only Joy’ also did well on 7 inch. The other tracks are unreleased up until now. ‘Love So Nice ‘comes in a different style, producers Harvel Hart and Sly & Robby used a hardcore ragga riddim this time. Most songs however use his trademark. Good solid conscious lyrics riding on top of basic one drop riddims.
