Just the other day Trojan released a very nice compilation of early Augustus Pablo tunes, called 'Skanking With Pablo'. This highly recommended album covered most of Pablo's hits for other producers like Chin, Harriott and Bunny Lee. This one is a compilation of the very best that came out on his own Rockers label. All his major hits are represented, like 'Africa 1983', 'Mr Bassie', '555 Crown Street', 'Satta' and of course his only international hit 'King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown'. Most other tracks came out on one of his many albums, some only surfaced on 45rpm singles. This compilation might not bring anything interesting to any big Pablo fan, but it's a very good introduction to this immortal instrumentalist.
