Rasites - Urban Regeneration
Releasedatum: 2 augustus 2001
‘Old time something come back again’ goes the Jamaican saying. The re-emergance of the harmony group (Morgan Heritage, LMS, TOK, ARP) is one of the nicest revivals in the last decade. Now the UK posse joins in the fun with the release of the debut album by RasItes. RasItes constists of 4 members who play drums, bass, guitar and keyboard and all sing either harmony or lead. These youths are definately conscious, since all four are teenagers but instead of singing about girls and bling bling as most of their peers, they concentrate on the words of Rastafari. Their style, various leads per song, singing as well as deejaying leads to comparing the RasItes with their American counterparts Morgan Heritage, and altough they obviously cannot reach those levels yet, they sound more promising than Morgan Heritage did on their first cd. Production credits go to Danny Ray and Fitzroy Blake who keep the sound rootsy and sober.
