Various Artists - Universal Message (Chapter Ii)
Releasedatum: 13 september 2001
This is a very good compilation that focuses on culture and consciousness. ‘Universal Message’ has 18 songs that tell the tale of the sufferers in all aspects. VC sings his number one hit ‘By His Deeds’, Morgan Heritage talk about ‘The Black Man’s Paradise’ and A.J. Brown gives some ‘Words Of Wisdom’ to ‘All Kind Of People’. Buju wants ‘More Love In The City’, while Culture calls for a ‘Revolution’. Bushman curses ‘Fire Pon Ah Weak Heart’, Cocoa Tea orders: ‘Sinners Surrender’. Sizzla explains about ’Heaven and Earth’, as does Capleton in ‘Istic In The Clouds’. ‘I Will Survive’ is Capletons’s second message, a theme also touched by the late Garnett Silk. His ‘Go Away Death’ is one of the best tributes to Selassie I ever to come out of Jamaica and it’s is a complete mystery to me why this wicked Garnett tune never was released before (Irie FM used to spin the dubplate from this one since 1994). Listen and learn. This track alone should be more than enough reason to purchase this album, but if you want even more there are also tracks by Jack Radics, Junior Kelly, Terry Linen, Glen Washington, Beres Hammond and Jah Cure.
