The Coen Brothers remake of the classic 1955 Ealing comedy. Goldthwait Higginson Dorr, Ph.D., (Tom Hanks) is the smooth talking con man who charms his way into becoming the gospel music loving Mrs Munson's (Irma P. Hall) new tenant. Having master-minded a plan that involves digging a tunnel between Mrs Munson's root cellar and the local casino's underground counting house, he begins to plot the perfect underground heist. To assist him, he recruits a motley bunch of would-be crooks, including a foul-mouthed homeboy (Marlon Wayans) and an Irritable-Bowel-Syndrome suffering explosive expert (J.K. Simmons). The plan seems to be going well - despite the inside man getting fired from his job and the odd unplanned explosion - until Mrs Munson's inquisitive nature starts to interfere a little too much...
