Buster, Prince - King Of Ska
Releasedatum: 22 december 2000
Very nice compilation of Prince Buster’s ska singles. Buster is a part of Jamaican history. In the sixties he succesfully challenged Sir Coxsone and Duke Reid and became the third part of this legendary threesome that ruled the Jamaican music scene during the reign of the ska beat. English ska-personality Gaz Mayall compiled this album and he did a very good job. Not the obvious selection here, but 16 rather unfamiliar ska tracks. Both Buster’s singing and arranging genius is showcased here as it is a mix of vocal tracks like ‘Don’t Throw Stones’, ‘God Son’ and ‘Madness’ and instrumental masterpieces like ‘Forrester Hall, ‘Downbeat Burial’ and the very erie ‘7 Wonders Of The World’, the instrumental version of ‘Ghosttown’.
