Blechtrommel, Die R2 (Uk Import) - Schlondorff, Volker
Releasedatum: 1 januari 2006
Volker Schlondorff's powerful adaptation of the novel by Gunter Grass won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film in 1979 as well as Best Film at the Cannes festival the same year. The narrator of the film is little Oskar (the unforgettable David Bennent), a precocious child of a permissive petty bourgeois couple. He decides to stop growing on his third birthday, as if refusing to enter the sordid sexuality of his surroundings and the unstoppable growth of Nazism, the same year that Hitler came to power. With his noisy tin drum always at his side, and a piercing scream that can shatter glass, Oskar makes his disturbing but often darkly comic way through Hitler's Germany.
