Kleinenberg, Sander - Everybody (It's A Renaissance)
Releasedatum: 20 oktober 2003
Renaissance's brand new 2 x CD compilation project 'Everybody', sees them hooking up with Sander Kleinenberg (his Renaissance debut) to showcase his fast rising, exciting, new party concept. 'Everybody' has been taking Holland and, more recently, Ibiza by storm and has already featured guest spots from the likes of Sasha and Deep Dish. However, it is Sander himself who is the driving force behind the brand with his celebrated, extended sets and unique approach. Throw Renaissance into the mix (no pun intended) and the result is a hybrid of the established and the new. Sander is undoubtedly one of the hottest DJs on the planet, but beyond DJing he has recently remixed the likes of Annie Lenox and Spork for Norman Cook's Southern Fried label. And then, of course, there is THAT Justin Timberlake remix which has set a blazing trail across the world's finest dancefloors. His recent Four Seasons 3 ep sees him complete a musical trilogy which has defined dance music since the late 90's. On this most recent offering one particular track – 'Work To Do feat. Miss Bunty' – demonstrates his unique ability to re-define musical genres, picking up support from the likes of Erick Morillo and Roger Sanchez alongside the likes of Steve Lawler, Deep Dish and Danny Tenaglia. Renaissance is synonymous with its artwork and packaging and 'Everybody' won't be any exception to the rule. A custom made, spined slipcase with a matt laminate finish will house a 6-page digi-pack. The art direction, however, does mark a new direction as, at Sander's own behest, we take a conscious step away from the serious, integral blueprint which has become the norm amongst comps within this particular genre. The packshot (above) features Sander at this years Glastonbury sporting a very cheeky pose. This ethic is carried through to the artwork which will be totally hand written, once again by Sander. This is a DJ who wants to break rules, evoking the spirit of 70's punk and the experimental elektonika of the 80's, albeit within an exciting, new dance music context. Confirmation of this is immediately evident from the tracklsting, with disc 1 drawing on Sander's European influences as he features tunes from France's hip Versatile label and the underground, soon to be overground, smash from Austria's Seelenluft. Further in we see tracks and remixes from the likes of the Scumfrog, fellow Dutchman Roland Klinkenberg and Switzerland's DJ Chab. Disc 2 continues this Global flavour and includes highlights from Newcastle's Solaris Heights, Zamba from Spain, America's Austin Leeds and the massive Essential New Tune from Morjac.
