Culture - World Peace
Releasedatum: 13 juni 2003
Joseph Hill does it again. The long-time crowd favourite is back with a massive album. After more than 30 years in the business Culture exactly knows what his strength is: conscious lyrics over original roots riddims. 'World Peace' is strong in both the lyrical content as in the musical drive. The album is self produced by Joseph Hill, he made use of a range of session musicians that includes the Fire House Crew and yards best horn section: Dean Fraser, Nambo Robinson & David Madden. Most riddims are in a horn driven roots style and are new. The exception is 'Selection Train', a remake of the Studio One standard by the Chosen Few. As always Culture include a couple of Nyabinghi riddims in to the mix. The status of Culture as a trio has been a bit vague over the last decades. Sometimes Joseph Hill operates solo or as half a duo under the Culture Banner. This album does include Albert Walker and Telford Nelson in the line up along with a couple of female backing singers and the sleeve notes come with a picture of the three of them, so we are glad that they are still a trinity.
