Sean Paul - Dutty Rock
Releasedatum: 11 november 2002
Well, this is an album you should be familiar with by now. ‘Dutty Rock’ has been released following the huge success Sean Paul had and still has with his single ‘Give Me The Light’. As it is already selling like hot cake it sure seems to become the first true dancehall album that crosses over in the pop market. Just like most reggae albums it’s mostly a collection of successful dancehall singles, with a couple of hiphop thingies thrown in for good measure. Busta Rhymes passes through, just like the unavoidable Neptunes, but most songs are pure Jamaican hardcore, ‘Like Glue’, ‘Can You Do The Work’, ‘Punkie’ and ‘It’s On’ were considerable hits, but none can touch the megastatus of ‘Give Me The Light’. Get it while it’s hot.
