Flowers And The Angry Waves R2 Ws (Uk Import) - Suzuki, Seijun
Releasedatum: 26 maart 2007
Japanese historical drama directed by empirical director Seijun Suzuki. Set in 19th Century Tokyo, this film follows a lowly coal miner (Akira Kobayashi) who foments a riot against a tyrannical local figure (Tamio Kawaji) who specialises in making peoples lives miserable.
The film explores pretty much every segment of the Japan underworld; the Yakuza, the right wing, Unionists and a tattooed geisha-gone-bad, doing just about everything the Japan tourism board denies ever went on in its country; sword play, adultery, riots, pistol fights, treachery, bribery, blackmail and miscellaneous assorted scandalousness.
Suzuki let his hair down and rolled up his sleeves for this classic piece of Japanese cinema - a rollicking knees-up of oriental underbelly!
