Wonder, Wayne - Schizophrenic
Releasedatum: 6 september 2001
There is something odd about this album. First there is the title: what is that all about, has the man gone mad or something? Second, just the other day there emerged some nice lovers singles by Wayne Wonder on the Reggae Vibes label. Now here is the album, produced by the same crew and I want to know: what happened to those lovers songs? This album is mainly a dancehall affair, mixed with a couple of roots tracks and the obvious crossover attempt. Nuff nice music still, 'Tragedy' is one of his better reality songs for a long time, 'Easily Change' and 'Mr. Man' are strong reggae tracks. The focus however is mainly on dancehall and most songs are done in a combination style. 'You Don't Know' came out on Wayne's own label and features deejay Entourage. Other guest appearances are by Bonnie Clyde, Spragga Benz , Showki Ru but it's mainly Surprise that voices the deejay parts. The latter is no other than Wayne Wonder's very own deejay personage. Wait a minute, that explains the 'Schizo' part about Wayne, he's both a sweet voiced singer and a roughneck deejay.
