Various Artists - Trilogy (Riddim)
Releasedatum: 2 maart 2001
This album contains no less than 17 cuts of the most hard-core dancehall riddim, that is currently ruling the dances in Yard. ‘Trilogy’ is produced by Jammy’s & Ward 21, the team that gave us ‘Bellyas, ‘Badda Badda’ & ‘Volume’ and this one is just as rough as the aforementioned. A tough riddim needs some rough performances and there are plenty of those to be heard on ‘Trilogy’. People like Elephantman, Beenieman, Sean Paul, Mr. Vegas, Lady Saw, Spragga Benz, Red Rat and Zumjay certainly do not disappoint, but can’t match up with Lexxus’ ‘Spy’ in which he remakes the chorus of Eminem’s ‘Stan’ and the massive combination between Bounty Killer and Wayne Marshall ‘When The Smoke Clears’. This song is remixed to contain portions of the Shyne /Grace Jones ‘Bad Boy/ Night Clubbing’ riddim that is also very huge in both the Dancehall and Hip Hop scene. Too bad that it excludes Ward 21’s hilarious version of Wyclef’s ‘911’ though.
