Vybz Kartel - Up 2 Di Time (More Up 2 Di Time Edition)
Releasedatum: 19 november 2003
Vybz Kartel is one of the fastest rising stars in the Jamaican dancehall. He is a deejay with a difference: he uses no catchy hooklines or over the top delivery to build a vibe, his ability lies is his intelligent lyrics and rhyming skills. This album is mostly produced by Dononan Vendetta, the man whose Don Corleon label is responsible for Vybz Kartels biggest hits so far. Don Corleon's hot new riddims like 'Mad Antz', 'Krazy', Egyptian' and 'Good To Go' are the perfect match for Vybz Kartels lyrics. Their first big hit was the duet with Wayne Marshall 'New Millennium'. The same combination also made the two anti gal-nyamming tunes 'Why You Keep On Doing It' part 1 and 2. His first solo hit was the huge 'Sweet To The Belly'. The rest of the album is filled with a few current singles like 'Buss It Off' (produced by Rennaissance) and 'Tattoo'(produced by DJ Wayne) and a substantial number of new and exclusive songs using both dancehall and even a couple of hip hop riddims. It's not an album that will stick in your head after one listening, but Vybz Kartel's song writing makes each song interesting enough to hear over and over. As an extra feature, the first press of the cd comes with a limited bonus cd, containing freestyles of Vybz Kartel over the hottest Don Corleon riddims.
