Dancehall Tip

Various Artists - Def Jamaica
Releasedatum: 20 oktober 2003
The American hip hop label Def Jam has always been interested in reggae and dancehall (remember they where the first to sign Capleton). Now, off course partly due to the chart success of Sean Paul, they realized this project that focuses on the cross breeding between dancehall and hip hop. Each song is a collaboration between hip hop and danceahall artists. We find Buju in combination with Cam'Ron, TOK with Scarface and Dru Hill, Jay-Z with Wayne Marshall and so on. The production is mostly done by Tony Kelly, some hip hop tracks are produced by others. The whole project sounds fresh and new and is definitely a trendsetter: as a look into the Bill Board 100 shows, the mix between dancehall and hip hop is the hottest sound of the moment and will be here to stay for a while.
