Schulze can easily be described as the godfather of electronic space
ambient. After founding both Ash Ra Tempel and Tangerine Dream he quit
bands and started his solo career with the LP 'Irrlicht' in 1972. After
that followed the LPs 'Cyborg', 'Picture Music', 'Blackdance' and 'Timewind',
which resulted in a position in the Album Top 40 without any airplay
or promotion whatsoever. It may not come as a surprise that Schulze
started collaborating with another musician from a later period in time:
Pete Namlook. Until now nine releases have been published under the
name of 'Dark Side Of The Moog'.
