Flash record producer Max Taylor (Benny Young) thinks he's the luckiest guy alive, but Fate plays its wild card when he comes up against aristocrat Callum Chance (Christopher Lee) in a high stakes game of poker. The game ends with Max winning the key to Chance's gothic ancestral mansion but, once again, Fate is about to deal Max a new and this time altogether more deadly hand. As soon as the Taylor family move into their new home, Max's wife (Ingrid Lacey) and two kids are brutally dispatched, one by one, by a resident demonic jester (Tim James), an evil joker with a varied and imaginative repertoire of homicidal techniques and an irreverent sense of humour. Meanwhile, Max's brother, Johnny (Matthew Devitt), on his way to the mansion to deliver a vanload of music equipment, has picked up a disparate bunch of hitchhikers who will be lucky to survive the night in one piece...
