Serenity R2 Ws (Uk Import) - Whedon, Josh
Releasedatum: 3 oktober 2011
'Serenity' is the feature film debut of Writer/ Director Joss Wheedon, creator of the massively popular shows 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' and Angel' and is the first film spin off from the late, lamented cult sci-fi series 'Firefly'. Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion), a hardened veteran on the losing side of a galactic civil war, now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his 'Firefly'- class ship, 'Serenity'. He leads a small, eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family - squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal. When Mal takes on two new passengers - Simon (Sean Maher), a young doctor and his unstable, telepathic sister River(Summer Glau)- he gets much more than he bargained for. The pair are fugitives from the Alliance - the side which won the civil war - who now dominate the galaxy. They will stop at nothing to reclaim the girl. The crew that was once used to skimming the out-skirts of the galaxy unnoticed, find themselves caught between the unstoppable military force of the Universal Alliance and the horrific fury of the Reavers: cannabalistic savages who roam the very edge of space. Hunted by vastly different enemies, they begin to discover that the greatest danger to themselves may be on board 'Serenity' herself... Many of the film's action sequences revolve around Summer Glau's martial arts skills in her portrayal of River. Glau prepared for her role with Hong Kong stuntwoman Ming Lu, as well as with stunt co-ordinators Chad Stahelski and Hiro Koda, and as a result performed nearly all the stunt work herself. In addition to the stellar stunts, realistic graphics and an often haunting score, the film's actors reprise that rare ensemble chemistry much missed from the cancelled series 'Firefly'.
