Tom Morello (Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave) stak Anti-Flag onlangs een flinke veer in hun achterste via een statement in zijn laatste Rolling Stone-interview: "Anti-Flag are the most important emerging band in America at the moment. Uncompromising, ferocious, and absolutely right. In desperate times like these, the world needs a band like Anti-Flag to set shit straight". Anti-Flag nam vooral politiek stelling tijdens de verkiezingsstrijd - Rock Against Bush Tour - en de Irak-strijd - via de Military Free Zone-organisatie. Maar genoeg geluld over non-muziek-issues, 'For blood and empire' is de titel van de nieuwe cd van de Pittsburgh-(pop)punkers van Anti-Flag. De muziek straalt nog steeds een prettige punksfeer uit; denk aan een mix van The Clash, Green Day en Rancid, met veel melodie, enthousiasme en uiteraard opruiende teksten. Dit keer wordt vooral de nieuwe ultra-conservatieve Project For a New American Centry flink aan de kaak gesteld, maar het is vooral de bandnaam natuurlijk die het krachtigste statement maakt: "It doesn't matter what flag you are flying, we are all one people and this is all one struggle".
